Mississippi Commercial Amberjack Season Ends Night Of Oct. 27

BILOXI, Miss. – Commercial fishing season for greater amberjack will close in Mississippi territorial waters on Thursday, Oct. 28, 2010, at 12:01 a.m.

The last day to commercially fish for greater amberjack is Wednesday, Oct. 27, 2010, and all commercially caught greater amberjack must be landed no later than midnight. The season will reopen Jan. 1, 2011, at 12:01 a.m.

The closing of the commercial greater amberjack season is issued under the authority of Section 49-15-15 (1) of the Mississippi Code of 1972.

The Mississippi Department of Marine Resources is dedicated to enhancing, protecting and conserving marine interests of the state by managing all marine life, public trust wetlands, adjacent uplands and waterfront areas to provide for the optimal commercial, recreational, educational and economic uses of these resources consistent with environmental concerns and social changes.
