Last weekend on the sunny shores of Miami, the Aquaculture Stewardship Council (ASC) North America and Pescanova USA served up ASC-certified seafood to more than 3,000 visitors at the nation’s premiere seafood celebration, the 10th annual South Beach Seafood Festival (SOBESF).

October is known for two things: Halloween and National Seafood Month. The event aims to inspire and inform area culinary influencers on the benefits of responsibly raised, ASC-certified seafood.

ASC Releases New Version of its Salmon Standard (v 1.4)

The Aquaculture Stewardship Council (ASC) has updated its Salmon Standard and published version 1.4, following a rigorous science-based review process. The revision, which has a specific scope on sea lice management, will lead to more robustness in sampling and monitoring and immediate remedy action when needed. This is part of ASC’s commitment to ensure farms are reducing potential impacts on wild salmonid populations while improving fish health and welfare on site.  

ASC Launches Public Consultation On Fish Health and Welfare and Benthic Impacts in ASC Farm Standard

From September 1 to October 31, 2022, ASC is running a public consultation to refine proposals for two major topics in the upcoming ASC Farm Standard, Fish Health and Welfare and Benthic Impacts. The consultation specifically aims to collect feedback on the practical impact and auditability of the suggested requirements from producers, primary processors, and auditors as well as to understand stakeholders’ opinion on the entire proposal.
