FDA Releases 2017-2018 Report on the Occurrence of Foodborne Illness Risk Factors in Fast Food and Full-service Restaurants

Today, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) released its report on the Occurrence of Foodborne Illness Risk Factors in Fast Food and Full-service Restaurants. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) more than half of foodborne illness outbreaks that occur each year are associated with food from restaurants.

FDA Releases Summary Report on Ready-to-Eat Dips and Spreads Sampling Assignment

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) released findings from a sampling assignment that collected and tested refrigerated, multi-commodity ready-to-eat (RTE) dips and spreads. The assignment sought to estimate the presence of Salmonella spp. and Listeria monocytogenes in these products as part of the FDA’s ongoing effort to proactively ensure food safety and remove adulterated product from the market.

FDA Advises Restaurants and Retailers Not to Serve or Sell and Consumers Not to Eat Certain Raw Oysters from Dai One Food Co., Ltd, Republic of Korea Potentially Contaminated with Norovirus

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) is advising consumers not to eat, as well as restaurants along with food retailers not to sell, and to dispose of Dai One Food Co., Ltd., frozen raw half shell, IQF, and block form oysters with harvest dates between 2/10/2022 and 2/24/2022 and 4/13/2022 and 4/14/2022 from Designated Area No. II and sold in Hawaii, Georgia, and Minnesota.

Cricket Creek Farm Expands Recall of Cheeses Because of Potential Listeria monocytogenes Contamination and Inadequate Pasteurization

Cricket Creek Farm of Williamstown, MA is expanding their recall of Sophelise and Tobasi cheeses due to potential contamination with Listeria monocytogenes to include one lot of Berkshire Bloom cheese because pasteurization records did not illustrate the heating element reached required temperature.

Outbreak Over: Investigation of Salmonella in Flour

As of June 7, 2023, CDC announced that the outbreak is over. CDC reports a total of 14 illnesses in 13 states. The last illness onset was May 2, 2023. FDA’s investigation is complete.
