Rudi's Organic Bakery Launches Let's Doodle Lunch Facebook Campaign

Boulder, Colo. – Rudi’s Organic Bakery is helping make lunch a little bit more fun this summer through Let’s Doodle Lunch, a Facebook campaign that encourages parents who Like Rudi’s Organic to upload their little Picasso’s artwork and receive a FREE sandwich box with that art on top of the lid. Submissions will be accepted now through June 30, 2012, and each of the designs will be viewable in a gallery as soon as they are uploaded. Through Let’s Doodle Lunch, Rudi’s Organic is hoping to share its healthy and positive outlook on life by giving away free personalized sandwich boxes to kids across the country.

“Our founders had an optimistic approach to living life and believed that healthy families are happy families. That attitude is still alive and well at Rudi’s Organic Bakery today, and influences everything we do from selecting the organic ingredients that go into our breads to how we give back to the community and our customers,” said Doug Radi, vice president of marketing for Rudi’s Organic. “We value the connection between moms and kids and we hope that our Let’s Doodle Lunch campaign not only inspires kids to get creative, but also encourages the whole family to have fun in the kitchen.”

The fun will continue from July 1 to July 31, 2012, when Facebook fans will be invited to vote for their favorite design and receive a $0.75 coupon good for any Rudi’s Organic Bakery product. Each vote will also trigger a $1 donation to Chef Ann Cooper’sThe Lunch Box, an online toolkit offering healthy tools for school food service, administrators, parents and students to help transition K-12 school lunch rooms nationwide from processed foods to healthy made-from-scratch meals. The design that receives the most votes on Facebook by the end of the July will be named the Rudi’s Organic Official Sandwich Box. The grand prize winner will receive a year supply of Rudi’s Organic bread, a $100 Target gift card for school supplies, a $150 Whole Foods gift card, and a year subscription to KIWI magazine.

In the last phase of Let’s Doodle Lunch, from Aug. 1 to Sept. 30, Rudi’s Organic fans can send in three proof-of-purchases and receive a free Rudi’s Organic Official Sandwich Box featuring the winning design. Rudi’s Organic will donate $1 to The Lunch Box for every Rudi’s Organic Official Sandwich Box ordered.

“It made perfect sense for us to partner with The Lunch Box because Chef Cooper shares our belief that there’s a better way to eat and enjoy healthy foods,” said Radi. “We’re thrilled to be partnering with and giving back to an organization driving such important change in our children’s schools.”

Throughout Let’s Doodle Lunch, fans can text “Lunch” to 50555 to sign up for The Lunch Box Newsletter and learn more about how to get involved and support The Lunch Box.

Rudi’s Organic was inspired to celebrate the sandwich through Let’s Doodle Lunch after recently launching its new line of Sandwich and Bagel Flatz. Baked on the light side, Flatz are a nutritious and delicious option for lunch. All of the Flatz are made with recognizable organic ingredients and are free of ingredients like high fructose corn syrup, artificial chemicals and preservatives, and genetically modified organisms (GMOs). Plus, they’re packed with nutrition. All of the Flatz are 110 calories or less per serving, as well as 3-5 grams of fiber and 23-25 grams of whole grains (in the Sandwich Flatz and Whole Wheat Bagel Flatz) per serving. According to a recent study released by The Organic Center, choosing organic breads is a more nutritious option. In fact, the study found that 63 percent of organic bread ingredients are significant sources of important nutrients, compared to 27 percent in conventional bread, according to a report from.

All Flatz are available now nationally at natural foods stores and select mainstream supermarkets. The four varieties of Flatz include:
