STURTEVANT, Wis. — The dairy division of Alliance Enterprises of SE Wisconsin, LLC announces that, for the first time in the industry, real butter with 1/3 less cholesterol and no additives is now available globally for purchase and private labeling. The butter is made using the all-natural, patented Benelact® technology that reduces cholesterol while retaining taste, texture, functionality and nutrients in milk products.
“Market research indicates that consumers choose foods based on taste first and health/nutrition second,” said Brandon Malacara, marketing director. “Now is the ideal time for processors, retailers and foodservice to offer a lower-cholesterol butter option to customers who seek healthier choices that taste good.”
The Benelact technology adds no chemicals, plant sterols or preservatives. Cholesterol is isolated and extracted via mechanical means using traditional dairy equipment that is already in most dairy plants. All other aspects of the product remain intact.
The butter can be customized to meet customer requirements for organic and kosher options.
Companies may purchase reduced cholesterol butter directly from Benelact (through a commercial production partner in Minnesota), purchase reduced cholesterol cream to manufacture reduced cholesterol butter, or Benelact technology can be easily installed in a processor’s own dairy plant using existing equipment.
