ORRVILLE, Ohio—The power of the pencil made its way to Smith Dairy Products Company last year by way of a simple handwritten note sent from the 8-year-old niece of one of the dairy’s associates. She suggested a new Ruggles® Premium Ice Cream flavor, along with the recipe instructions and list of ingredients for banana nut fudge.
“When we received the note we first thought it was a charming sentiment from a child who was a Ruggles ice cream fan,” said Penny Baker, Director of Marketing for Ruggles. “But then we took a second look at her ingredient combinations and realized they were unique and appealing enough to introduce as a limited edition flavor.”
Ruggles® Banana Nut Fudge Premium Ice Cream is a banana-flavored ice cream with a fudge swirl and chocolate-covered peanuts. It will be available as a rotational flavor during April and May in grocers’ freezers in 1.75 quart containers with a suggested retail price (SRP) of $5.29 to $5.99.
