Nova Scotian Organic Milk To Hit Stores In June

Made-in-Nova Scotia organic milk will hit store shelves this summer, a few weeks after the originally predicted product launch date.

“We’re still progressing along,” East Cost Milk Co-operative co-ordinator Heather MacKenzie said Tuesday.

“We’ve finalized our logo and are working on packaging and starting our sales calls now. We’re a bit behind but we want to do it right the first time — no backtracking.”

The co-operative formed as a way to tap into the rapidly growing organic movement in Atlantic Canada, MacKenzie said. The demand for organic milk in Nova Scotia is alive and well, but right now orders are being filled by organic dairy producers shipping their product from Ontario.
