Umpqua Dairy Awarded At The Oregon Dairy Industries Conference

Roseburg, OR – Umpqua Dairy Products, Co. was the big winner at the 102nd Annual Oregon Dairy Industries Conference held in Salem on April 9th & 10th, 2013.
 
Umpqua Dairy received the prestigious Sweepstakes Award in the cultured division and the Sweepstakes Award in the ice cream division judging competition. This was the third year in a row that Umpqua Dairy has taken home the Sweepstakes Award in the cultured division.
 
Umpqua Dairy was awarded the runner-up to the Sweepstakes Award in the fluid milk division judging and Umpqua sour cream and vanilla ice cream were judged to be the best in the northwest.
 
 “Umpqua Dairy is very pleased to receive two sweepstakes awards and runner up in the third”, said John Harvey, Director of Plant Operations. “Our employees are dedicated to producing quality products. To be honored with such awards by our peers is the highest compliment one can receive”.
 
Wes Roberts, Umpqua Dairy’s Ice Cream Production Supervisor, was on hand to accept the ice cream trophy and Tony Gibson, Cultured Products Production Supervisor, accepted the cultured award.          
 
Dairy products are judged by an independent judging team from Oregon State University and the Dairy industry.  The products are evaluated on flavor, appearance, body and texture. Sweepstakes awards are given to the single company that scores the highest overall in judging of the various product categories.
