Gerber's Celebrating 60 Years Of Taking Poultry From Chicks To Dining Room Table

KIDRON — From a two-man operation in 1952 to the current staff of 375 people, Gerber's Poultry boasts more than 50 million customers per year as it enters its 60th year in business.

Co-owner Mike Gerber has been running the business since he was 23 years old, after his father, Dwight, had health problems that prevented him from operating Gerber's himself.

Three second-generation Gerbers work at Gerber's Poultry, with four third-generation Gerbers already working for the business.

"We're at that threshold time now of the next generation becoming more involved in management," Mike Gerber said. "They all have a very keen interest in the business."
