Moo & Oink Comin' Up Roses For Mother's Day At Illinois' Dixmoor Market

Chicago, IL – The Moo & Oink mobile will mooove into the parking lot of Dixmoor Market from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., Saturday, May 12, at 14635 S. Western Ave., Dixmoor. Look for the outdoor tent. To celebrate Mother’s Day, moms, grandmothers and great-grandmothers will be presented with a long-stemmed rose (while supplies last).

Cooks from Moo & Oink will set up the grill and offer samples of a variety of Moo & Oink products such as Moo & Oink burgers and Moo & Oink mild links. Of course, Moo & Oink’s famous High Five BBQ Sauce will be used liberally.

The classic Chicago brand known for its selection of meat and rap-based commercials in the 1980s and ‘90s was thought to be gone forever after last year’s bankruptcy of the Moo & Oink grocery stores. Best Chicago Meat Co., LLC, purchased the Moo & Oink brand in Dec., 2011, and is bringing the most popular items to grocery stores across the Chicagoland area.

Currently there are more than 20 Moo & Oink products available at more than 200 grocery stores throughout Chicagoland. Later this summer, customers can expect to find 10 – 20 additional Moo & Oink products.

“We want to let all Mothers know how important they are,” said David L. Van Kampen, president of Moo & Oink. “A single rose, we hope, is a simple but significant gesture, one that says, ‘Happy Mother’s Day’ from Moo & Oink.

Moo & Oink’s main focus will be on the meat, but other brand expansions are being considered such as dry rubs and BBQ sprinkles.

For years, Moo & Oink has been a staple in the African American community in Chicago, and for the first time in its history, Moo & Oink is minority owned.

“We are excited to bring the great Moo & Oink brand back home to the wonderfully diverse neighborhoods of Chicago where we work and live,” said Van Kampen. “We are committed to making the very best meat products and grilling essentials available to families throughout Chicagoland, NW Indiana and Michigan.”
