Over 125 Education Sessions Announced For The Western Foodservice & Hospitality Expo, Healthy Food Expo And Coffee Fest

LOS ANGELES, CA  – Registration for the Education Program for the 2019 Western Foodservice & Hospitality Expo, co-located with the Healthy Food Expo and Coffee Fest taking place at the Los Angeles Convention Center August 25 – 27, 2019 is now available. The Western Foodservice & Hospitality Education Program will include five tracks – Bar & Beverage, Building a Winning Team, Hot Topics, Marketing & Social Media, and Operational Excellence. The Healthy Food Expo West will have a dedicated Health & Diet track and Coffee Fest Los Angeles will include four tracks – Business Operations, Hot Trends & Training, Roasting, and Sales & Marketing. Thousands of foodservice, specialty coffee, restaurant and retail professionals will have no shortage of education offered at the largest food and beverage experience on the West Coast with three days of timely and informative presentations delivered by industry thought leaders.

“In listening to our attendees on what is driving their businesses we will offer dozens of sessions around profitability, marketing, operations, social media, and hot topics such as food safety,” said Tom Loughran, Vice President for the Clarion UX Food & Beverage Group. “We strive to offer sessions to help our restaurant, foodservice, retail and specialty coffee professionals stay up-to-date and in the know on the latest in the industry.”

The Western Foodservice & Hospitality Expo and Healthy Food Expo West education programs combined offers over 40 complimentary sessions to registered attendees and -new this year- will offer additional selection of 10:00 am sessions each day, an hour before the Show Floor opens. The Bar & Beverage track will offer classes on bar hacks, wine by the glass programs, personalized custom cocktail menus, and more. Building a Winning Team track will focus on retaining and managing employees, alternative labor models, management teams, etc. Health & Diet will focus on food allergies, plant-based menus, seafood alternatives, gluten-free customers, and healthy trends. Hot Topics will touch base on website accessibility, food safety, California labor laws, 3rd party delivery, sexual harassment training, and much more. Marketing & Social Media will cover social media networking tips, branding, and marketing strategies. Operational Excellence will address understanding competition, negotiating leases and renewals, franchises, running profitable food and beverage operations, fraud prevention, etc.

  • Monday, August 26, 9:30 am – 11:30 am, AllerTrain, an ANSI accredited, manager-level food allergy and gluten-free training course will be offered with Kimberly Fields of MenuTrinfo, LLC. The course is designed to prepare restaurants for gluten free requests, avoiding food allergy-related incidents, and prepare them for emergencies.   • Monday, August 26, 2:00 pm – 5:00 pm, Take Back Your Budget: The Key to Profitability Workshop with restaurant expert David Scott Peters will provide steps to create a budget, how to use a budget to recover from unexpected roadblocks, using budget variance to maintain budgets, to find and calculate the magic number and what makes it what it is, how to figure out where you stand financially, how to change management from reactive to proactive, and a foolproof system for reducing numbers to make more money.   • Monday, August 26, 4:00 pm – 5:30 pm, WHY WHISKEY? Tasting and Education Workshop with Tom Fischer, Founder of BourbonBlog.com is geared toward restaurants owners, bartenders, and anyone who works with whiskey and bourbon featuring how to enhance their bourbon and whiskey programs.   • Tuesday, August 27, 10:00 am – 12:00 pm, Profitable Menu Design Workshop, with Donald Burns, the restaurant coach and author will explore why menu size matters, fonts, menu psychology tricks, impact colors have on sales, mind tricks to increase profit, pricing, designing a menu on a budget, and a step by step action plan on successful menu rollouts. Coffee Fest will offer over dozens of sessions in four tracks.  The Business Track will focus on creating a zero waste café, building a mission, retention, effective management, and more.  The Hot Trends and Training track will offer sessions on cold brew, differences of espresso and coffee, and specialty coffee trends. The Roasting sessions will include buying green coffee, women in roasting, and effective ways to sell. The Sales & Marketing Trackwill focus on gift & loyalty programs, social media success, creative marketing and more.
