Safe Food Solutions' Basic Food Safety eStart Now An Approved Offering In TX

The Texas Department of State Health Services recently added Basic Food Safety eStart™, an online food safety training program for hourly employees, to its list of approved foodhandler program courses.  The TX DSHS, the Texas Food Handler Program, along with the Certified Food Manager Program, is dedicated to the health and safety of the citizens of the state, educating food service employees in the principles of food safety to produce safe food products for Texas consumers.

Basic Food Safety eStart™ is designed to educate a rotating, multi-level staff (line cooks, servers, bartenders, ware washers, grocery staff, volunteers, buffet staff, etc.). The non-management food safety training program is fully narrated and written on an 8th grade reading level for ease of use with all employees. There are four lessons: Foodborne Illness, Hygiene & Handwashing, Time, Temperature & Food Flow and Contamination & Sanitation.  Each lesson is approximately 30 minutes in length.  There is an interactive glossary of food safety-related terms for reinforcement of key concepts as well as overviews of case studies & videos related to recent critical incidents. The program concludes with a 20-question randomized, graded assessment and personalized, printable certificate of achievement.

Unlike traditional offerings, Basic Food Safety eStart™ is a flat-rate training option, available unlimitedly for $299/year. For this purchase price, a foodservice location receives access to the course for an unlimited number of employees as well as the benefits of a robust Learning Management System for record management and data storage of the operation's food safety training statistics. This pricing model is ideal for restaurants, hotels, resorts and country clubs that typically experience high employee turnover and/or require a training solution to serve a rotating staff.

Noted Eric Webster, Safe Food Solutions’ Managing Director, “Safe Food Solutions is pleased to work with the Texas Food Handler Program and offer our popular Basic Food Safety eStart™ food safety training solution to foodservice operations throughout the state.”
