Hydrangea Breeders Association Conducts Old Wood Trial to Bring the Cut Hydrangea Season Forward

HBA’s cut hydrangea varieties are perfectly suited for producing flowers on old wood, making it possible to market flowers as early as March/April. This is apparent from the old wood trial that HBA conducted this spring.

HBA Presents Color Poster Cut Hydrangea

Breeder HBA from De Kwakel developed a color poster. The poster shows how the cut hydrangeas from the Royal series change their flower colors spectacularly during the season. The color poster is a tool for growers and buyers to communicate clearly about the different color stages.

In 2020 Hydrangea Breeders Association (HBA) did a pinching trial with cut flower hydrangeas on their test location at Agriom, De Kwakel: two plants of each variety were pinched mid March, two plants were pinched April 1st and two plants were pinched April 15th.
