Western Growers Center for Innovation and Technology (WGCIT) recently assisted Inteligistics, a WGCIT partner, in the evaluation of Inteligistics’ InteliCool™ system at Fresh Del Monte facilities in Salinas, CA and Yuma, AZ. The results were significant reductions in cooling cycle time, electric power savings, reduced CO2  emissions and overall efficiency improvement of 30%.

President Biden to Nominate Chief Ag Trade Negotiator Well-known to USApple

The U.S. Apple Association applauded President Biden’s announcement that he intends to nominate Doug McKalip to be chief agricultural trade negotiator in the White House Office of the U.S. Trade Representative. McKalip is well-known to USApple and its leaders, including speaking at a USApple Leadership Luncheon during the organization’s annual Capitol Hill meetings.

The Tree Fruit Charity Awards Over $1 Million in Scholarship Funds

The Washington Apple Education Foundation (WAEF) awarded 318 scholarships to students this year. Of the 318 scholarships, 218 were awarded to renewing students, and 100 new students were welcomed to the WAEF family. These scholarships represent over $1 million sponsored by the tree fruit industry through various fundraisers, in memory of industry leaders and friends, and annual donations.

First Cohort of Fellows Accepted Into USHBC’s Blueberry Industry Leadership Program Announced

The U.S. Highbush Blueberry Council (USHBC) today announced the first cohort of fellows accepted into its Blueberry Industry Leadership Program. The program, launched in March, is designed to elevate up-and-coming leaders in the blueberry industry by providing in-depth training, industry education and connection to other ag leaders for passionate blueberry professionals across the supply chain.
