Mission Foods Corp., the largest manufacturer of refrigerated tortillas in the country, is expanding its tortilla plant in New Brighton.

The factory is at 1565 First Ave. N.W., an industrial building owned by 614 Co., based in Minneapolis. New Brighton City Planner Janice Gundlach said the building permit values the project at $2.7 million.

The addition will expand the 100,000-square-foot building by 45,000 square feet, said Jeremy Thomas, senior project manager with the general contractor R.J. Ryan Construction Inc., based in Mendota Heights.
