Orca Bay Seafoods has been awarded certification in Chain of Custody from ASMI (Alaska Seafood Marketing Institute) by successfully meeting the requirements of the FAO-Based Responsible Fisheries Management (RFM) Chain of Custody Certification standard administered by Global Trust.
This new independent, third-party certification of the management of the major Alaska commercial fisheries is directly based on the respected United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) Code of Conduct for Responsible Fisheries, management and the FAO Guidelines for the Ecolabeling of Fish and Fishery Products from Marine Capture Fisheries (Guidelines) – both recognized around the globe as the best criteria for responsible fisheries management.
Orca Bay Seafoods is a leading North American seafood processor and distributor since 1985. Based out of Renton, WA, Orca Bay distributes retail and foodservice seafood products, including their own Orca Bay brand club store and 10oz retail lines. Visit orcabayseafoods.com for more information.
Alaska Seafood Marketing Institute (ASMI) is a partnership of the State of Alaska and the Alaska seafood industry. ASMI works to promote the benefits of wild and sustainable Alaska seafood and to offer seafood industry education. For more than 50 years, Alaska has been dedicated to sustainable seafood. It’s so essential to our way of life that our Constitution mandates that “fish … be utilized, developed and maintained on the sustained yield principle.” The seafood industry is Alaska’s largest private sector employer, and as a result, Alaskans understand the need to protect the fisheries and surrounding habitats for future generations. We’re proud of our leadership in sustainable management, which has led to an ever-replenishing supply of wild seafood for markets around the world.
