Spudmobile Begins Tour Of Trig’s Stores As Wisconsin Potatoes Hit Market

Antigo, Wisconsin — New crop Wisconsin potatoes are hitting the market and Trig’s stores aren’t missing a beat in letting people know. The popular Wisconsin retail chain kicks off their Wisconsin potatoes promotion this afternoon by picking spuds at the Rhinelander Agricultural Research Station beginning at 3:30pm for the Rhinelander Area Food Pantry. On Saturday, September 23rd, the Spudmobile begins its tour of all the Trig’s stores starting in Rhinelander from 8-11am (232 S. Courtney St.) and then continuing that afternoon at the Eagle River store from 1-4 (925 E. Wall St.).

“Wisconsin Potato and Vegetable Farmers are excited to bring this mobile education and interactive experience to Trig’s and their customers,” says Dana Rady, Director of Promotions, Communication and Consumer Education of the Wisconsin Potato & Vegetable Growers Association (WPVGA).

Through hands-on exhibits and eye-catching graphics, Spudmobile visitors will learn how farmers are stewards of the land and how they incorporate the latest technologies into their agricultural practices. When visiting the Spudmobile, guests will learn about various varieties of potatoes grown in Wisconsin, how they are planted and harvested, the nutritional facts about potatoes and some statistics about America’s favorite vegetable. Kids will be completely engaged as they play games on the interactive touch table and the Field to Fork exhibits.

This entire experience speaks volumes in encouraging families to Buy Local and Buy Wisconsin Potatoes, says Rady. “When families buy local, they are getting a fresher product and supporting their local economies, which in turn creates strong communities. It truly is a pleasure to partner with a quality company like Trig’s on communicating how the high nutrition Wisconsin potatoes provide can also power your performance!”

Some featured images in Trig’s store displays include quarter-sized bins, recipe tear pads and images of professional hockey player and former Olympian Joe Pavelski, who hails from Plover, Wisconsin. These images resulted from WPVGA’s photo and commercial shoot with Pavelski in early August.

Besides the Rhinelander and Eagle River stores, the Spudmobile will also be visiting the store in Minocqua on September 24 (9am-1pm), Wausau (8-11am) and Weston (1-4pm) on September 30, and Stevens Point on October 1 (9am-1pm). The Wisconsin Spudmobile was developed by WPVGA, which is a non-profit organization that represents and promotes the State’s 300 potato and vegetable grower members and affiliates.
