   H-E-B Recalls H-E-B And Hill Country Fare Sandwich Bread

H-E-B, committed to the quality of its products, is voluntarily issuing a precautionary recall for H-E-B and Hill Country Fare sandwich bread with a best by date of April 29 or earlier due to the possible presence of a single piece of rubber in the product. This was an isolated incident.

Bread purchased in the San Antonio area, Rio Grande Valley, Laredo and Corpus Christi stores is not impacted by this recall.

The voluntary recall impacts the following products with the Best By date of 4/29 or earlier:

City Bakery, a wholesale artisan baking company, has opened a 5,000-square foot baking operation at 2628 W. Birchwood Circle Unit C in Mesa. The company has invested $1.1 million in the facility and will employ 20 people.

Chefs Alex Seidel and Matt Vawter of Mercantile Dining & Provision and Fruition, and Keegan Gerhard and Lisa Bailey of D Bar announced yesterday the launch of Füdmill, a wholesale artisan pastry company. Füdmill signed an exclusive agreement with Whole Foods Market to bring 12 varieties of fresh pastries, including chocolate croissants, seasonal muffins and Danishes, scones, morning buns and pain aux raisins to Denver locations including Cherry Creek, Washington Park, Colorado Boulevard and Tamarac, starting tomorrow, Wednesday April 19.

USDA’s Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) provides nutritionally at-risk, low-income, pregnant, postpartum, and breastfeeding women, as well as infants and children up to age 5, with supplemental foods, nutrition counseling, and access to health services. These WIC benefits are provided at no cost to the participant. In fiscal 2016, an average of 7.7 million people per month participated in WIC, about half of whom were children.
