   OGVG Hosts 50th Annual General Meeting

LEAMINGTON, ON - The Ontario Greenhouse Vegetable Growers' 50th Annual General Meeting was held on October 24th, 2017, at the Pelee Island Winery in Kingsville, ON. The meeting was very well attended with over 130 members and guests in attendance to celebrate our 50th. 

An election was required in District 1 and following a vote, Kevin Safrance and Hilco Tamminga were elected for a second term. Bill Heeg, Marco Hoogenboom and James Neven acclaimed their seats in District 2. The new Board of Directors for the 2017 – 2018 fiscal year are:

District 1

  1. Paul Mastronardi* - Hazel Farms     
  2. Jason Whitcher* - Cecelia Acres      
  3. Peter Quiring* - Nature Fresh Farms 
  4. Kevin Safrance – EnviroFresh Farms
  5. Hilco Tamminga – Truly Green          

District 2

  1. Jan VanderHout* - Beverly Greenhouses
  2. Mike Vanderzwet* - St. David’s Hydroponics
  3. Bill Heeg – Sunchoice Greenhouses
  4. Marco Hoogenboom – Hoogenboom Family Farms
  5. James Neven – Foothill Greenhouses

* 1 year remaining

The following growers have acclaimed a seat as Committee Persons for the 2017 – 2018 fiscal year are:

The Board will appoint members to fill vacancies as a Committee Person at the next Board meeting in November, 2017.

OGVG is responsible for licensing all growers, packers and marketers of Ontario greenhouse tomatoes, cucumbers, and peppers. Currently, OGVG has over 200 growers, representing nearly 2900 acres of high-tech hydroponic greenhouse production.
